Participation as an individual

I love team work but, I reckon I will be participating in this contest as an individual. Is it a requirement that I should be in a team. If not, does participating as an individual affect my chances of winning?
I saw this excerpt from Facebook: "What makes our Community Challenge so special every year is the many stories of collaboration and innovation we see from all around the world." which prompted me to ask this question? Thanks in advance for your timeous reply :)

    Hi Ted, It is not a requirement to work in a team and we will not be judging based on this so it should not affect your chances of winning. The 4 judging criteria for the tutorials are Quality of the Tutorial, Implementation of Facebook products, Clarity, and Relevance.
